A frond of seaweed in a variegated reddish glaze curls over the turned-in edge of this low, wide bowl by French Art Nouveau artist Albert-Louis Dammouse. The aquatic motif continues on the other side of the piece, where the artist has captured a shellfish embedding itself into the sea floor.

This fine example of Art Nouveau ceramics is signed on the underside.
