The simple tapered form of this vase is punctuated by a horizontal band of sculptural applied dragonflies with raised and overlapping wings. This frieze-like decoration, depicting one of the iconic motifs of the art nouveau movement, divides the vase; the lower portion is glazed in matte variegated blue-green, while above the dragonflies the flared neck and rim is glazed in drippy silvery black with deep blue inclusions.
