This spectacular glazed earthenware vase by is a masterwork by French Art Nouveau master ceramicist Pierre-Adrien Dalpayrat.

The rounded body of the vase features applied seaweed which climbs up the vase from the foot, with tendrils artfully wrapping over the lip of the rim. Nestled amongst the seaweed at the shoulder of the vase, a sculptural crab with carefully rendered details perches with one claw gripping the rim.

The vase exhibits a classic Dalpayrat sang-de-boeuf glaze, which is further enhanced by the three-dimensionality of the decoration.
