This box is part of the Art Moderne Desk Set produced by Louis C. Tiffany Furnaces Inc. around 1920; today the Desk Set is more commonly referred to by Tiffany collectors as the "Art Deco" Desk Set.

This Pen Wipe features the original brush. The surface features the same rectilinear decoration for which this Desk Set is beloved; in this example, the rectangular wells are filled with variegated green enamel. Circular motifs and a narrow framing groove have been filled with a complementary golden yellow, harmonizing with the patina of the bronze.
