Lined with the original cedar insert, this Cigar Box is a rare piece from the Art Moderne Desk Set (often referred to as the "Art Deco" set) produced by Louis C. Tiffany Furnaces Inc. in the 1920s.

The flat lid of the box features the rectilinear decoration and inlaid enamel for which this later desk set is beloved by Tiffany collectors.

In this example, the rectangular wells are filled with variegated green enamel, varying from light to dark from the edges to the interior; the largest were dramatically swirled for visual effect. A narrow interior groove and the circular motifs at the corners have been filled with a complementary golden enamel, complementing the darker patina of the bronze.
