Colloquially referred to as the Art Deco Desk Set, this popular desk set produced by Louis C. Tiffany Furnaces, Inc. in the 1920s was originally called the Art Moderne Desk Set according to archival documents.

This inkwell, the larger of two offered as part of the set, features the rectilinear decoration with inlaid enamel for which this desk set is treasured by Tiffany collectors. In this example, the larger recesses are filled with variegated green enamel, varying from light to dark from the edges to the interior and often swirled for visual effect. Narrow grooves and the circular motifs at the corners have been filled with a complementary golden-yellow enamel, complementing the patina of the bronze.
