American, circa 1920
2" high x 5 ¾" wide x 3" deep

The “Ninth Century” Desk Set produced by Tiffany Studios around 1920 was one of the company's more elaborate desk set designs.

This pattern is characterized by finely detailed motifs referencing medieval decorative arts; each piece in the set features patterns of intricate knotwork and interlace designs in the Celtic style, many of which frame stylized animals including various birds and a hare.

The Ninth Century set is one of the few Tiffany desk sets which features Tiffany Favrile Glass as an important decorative element used to imitate a semiprecious jewel or stone.
