The Nautical desk set was one of the most elaborate produced by Tiffany Studios, with each piece featuring highly detailed and often three-dimensional aquatic elements with chased detailing in etched gilt bronze.

The Match Stand is one of the most sculptural pieces in the set; the vertical stand is formed by a pair of entwined fish, their tails holding up the match holder and striker, while the shallow ovoid ash tray is formed by a swirling whirlpool of water.
