Oval Bowl
Length: 10 3/4 inches
Austrian, circa 1925
Designed by Austrian ceramicist Vally Wieselthier for the Wiener Werkstätte workshop, this low oval bowl rests on a circular foot. Two sculptural looping handles in the form of leafy vines rest at the narrow ends of the bowl, while the interior features an expressionistically rendered floral accented by the cobalt blue drippy glaze around the rim. The underside of the vase is marked with both the Wiener Werkstätte mark and Vally Wieslethier's monogram.
